Thing Ten

Wow!  I feel so left out.  How did I not know about RSS.  It really is a time saver.  I am a super dork sometimes and when I log onto the web I like to check the news headlines and the weather.  I usually go to a few "favorite" sites and check out what is new.  Now I don't have to.  Everything that I want to know is right there in one spot.  Super cool!  So many things in this class are time savers, but I also learn ways to spend time doing new things on line so, I guess it all balances out.:)

I subscribed to abcnews, CNN, The Weather Channel, The History Channel, Free Technology for Teachers, PBS for Teachers, Cool Cat Teacher, and History Net.  Wow, that's a lot to read, but it's all on one site.

I could use this in my future classroom by having my students set up a GMail account and subscribe to my blog.  I could also have them subscribe to The History Channel or other history blogs of their choice.  Sort of like our class has Web Of the Day, my students could talk about a blog that they chose to follow and why.

RSS is a great way for teachers to stay in touch with their students.  One blog post by the teacher can be seen by the entire class.  This saves time and cuts out excuses.  (Hopefully.)

Ten down and thirteen to go!  Oh yea!  Now we are rolling.
