Ok, like I need another addiction in my life. I am already addicted to knitting, reading, facebooking, and lots of things that do not include studying. Now I have to be addicted to huluing (v): watching tv and movies for free at http://www.hulu.com.
Hulu is super easy to use, and that is really saying something since I have never used it before or watched anything on my computer, tv and movies included, on any website. You just log in through facebook and begin browsing. You can have the "social" button on or off so as to decide whether or not to share what you are watching.
Hulu has 160 movies to choose from which is good for me since I am a movie buff. They are even box office hits like The Queen, Gangs of NY, and Hero. Also, lots of documentaries are included that could be helpful in many classrooms. The TV choices are endless! Finally, I can catch up on all the episodes I missed of The Real Housewives of Atlanta (New York, Orange County, Beverly Hills, Washington DC, and Miami). Notice: Sarcasm was used in the previous sentence.
One way that I would use this in my future classroom is to show some biographies from A&E. On hulu, there are 64 historical figures that have bios. I could have the students watch the entire show or I could have the show set to certain parts that I want to the students to see. Some historical figures that have biographies on hulu are Sitting Bull, Rasputin, Napoleon, and Paul Revere.
I feel like I can't say enough about how much I liked hulu. They even have a Latino section that you spanish teachers out there could use. The site is easy to navigate and browse. Enjoy!
Okey Dokey. Six down and seventeen to go!
Katy, I've heard of Hulu but have never tried it. I've never thought of it being soo useful inside the classroom! How useful those documentaries can be when teaching students about a particular person from the past. Hulu can prove useful in any classroom.
ReplyDeleteI love hulu; however, I had never thought about using it in the classroom. Usually I just watch junk so I may have to go look through their other stuff as soon as a get a minute.
